Queretaro, April 12, 2022. – Jessica Moncada de Herrera, Minister of Women’s Affairs of the Municipality of Queretaro, has specified that the consolidation and start of the Women’s University project will take place in May.
Despite the fact that the start of this project was announced in February, the official realized that the electoral ban on de-commissioning consultations had delayed the work.
For this reason, he announced that by May, the facilities of the Women’s University, which will be arranged through a cooperation agreement with the University of Icel, will be ready to start receiving the first students.
The idea is that lessons start in May. It is next to Santander Co. They are specially designed facilities for the university; They’re finishing adapting so we can start doing it,” he stressed.
Moncada de Herrera indicated that it is a priority to encourage women in the state capital to continue their academic preparation, saying that across the country, in Querétaro, there is an intermediate level of studies up to the first year of high school.
“Here in the municipality we bet the most of our girls are high school. We have two big challenges. First, to find out why our girls study that much; and second, see what happens, if there’s a self-esteem problem, they get pregnant or go to work.”
In this sense, the Secretary assured that in the university program the girls would have choices of schedules and modes of study, as well as scholarships, to avoid dropping out of school; Therefore, more than a thousand women are expected to join the first generation.
He indicated that they will seek to conclude agreements with those interested in entering this academic level, as those who do not have the resources can pay their registration fees in social work.
