Result of the first phase of the scholarship program The British Council of Colombian Creative Industries, in alliance with Colfuturo, has selected 15 Colombians who will begin a master’s program focusing on creative industries, in the second semester of 2019 in the UK.
The group of beneficiaries consists of 13 women and two men, including psychologists, musicians, social communicators, plastic arts teachers, architects and others from the provinces of Antioquia, Bolivar, Cundinamarca and Valle.
Everyone will travel to the UK in the coming months to fulfill their dreams of completing a Masters in Creative Industries at universities such as the University of Sussex, University of the Arts London, Birkbeck, University of London, Goldsmiths College and the University of Glasgow, among others.

The launch of the second phase of the Bricc Scholarship Program has also been announced, this time in partnership with Icetex. Recipients, who must have knowledge and experience in specific areas of the creative and cultural industries, will be able to enhance their English language skills and knowledge in the UK, as well as deepen language techniques for specific purposes in the performing arts, music, film and/or television.

The British Council and Icetex will offer up to 40 scholarships of 100% for the two-month English Language Courses (October-November 2019), in order to create strategic links in educational collaborations.
The course will seek to improve the general English language skills (writing, listening, reading and speaking) of the recipients and the general understanding of the UK’s creative industries.
“It is of paramount importance that Colombian citizens, who are connected with art and culture, have the opportunity to live in a new encounter with the classroom to further enhance skills and knowledge of the English language. In the same way, families are satisfied that the recipients are changing their lives through scholarships Bricc-Icetex”, said Manuel Acevedo, President of Icetex.

For 8 weeks, beneficiaries will receive 21 hours of tuition per week that combines general English lessons as well as a focus on technical English. In addition, the scholarship includes a series of complementary activities, visits and assignments that will expose students to British culture and the UK’s creative industries.
