There are approximately 1,300 Colombian professionals who will have the opportunity to pursue their postgraduate studies at the best universities in the world thanks to this invitation.

Candidates can apply at www.colfuturo.org to compete for support of up to $50,000 in tuition fees, insurance, living expenses, transit and installation expenses.
Those selected will be able to receive up to 80 percent of the amount they receive as a scholarship, if they graduate and return to work in Colombia. That is, if they loan them $10,000, they will be forgiven up to $8,000 and have to pay the remaining $2,000.

The application requirements are: be Colombian, professional, propose the postgraduate course they wish to pursue, write an essay. It is not necessary to obtain an acceptance letter from the university, although those who already have admission will have an advantage in choosing. Those selected will be able to legalize support and travel until the end of 2024.
“Those selected will also be able to benefit from more than 100 agreements signed by Colfuturo that provide supplemental scholarships of up to 100 percent of tuition fees,” explained Jeronimo Castro, Executive Director of the Foundation.
Candidates have complete freedom to choose the programme, university, country and language in which they wish to pursue their studies. They should bear in mind that the comparative quality of the program they are proposing is equal to 38 percent of the selection criteria.

Colfuturo will also compare the programs proposed by the candidates. For this purpose, international lists of top universities and programs, high-quality accreditation reports and other factors such as research strength, academic level and funding from government and international bodies will be used.
Other criteria for selection are undergraduate GPA (37 percent), essay grade (5 percent), and adjustment factor (20 percent). This last criterion, which is used only if it benefits the candidate, takes into account the position held in the undergraduate programme, distinctions and certificates, outstanding results in Saber Pro exams, and whether they have already been accepted into the university.
Between January and February, to assist the candidates, Colfuturo announced that it will offer weekly talks on everything from how to fill out the form, to how to prepare a study budget and will answer all participants’ concerns.

According to an impact assessment of the scholarship program conducted by the University of the Andes and the National Advisory Center, earning a postgraduate degree with Colfuturo represents 47.6 percent of the recipient’s annual work income from those who were not in the program. .
This is due, among other factors, to the fact that beneficiaries were able to access programs with greater academic excellence and more years of graduate study than those who did not benefit from the program.
