Nearly 3,000 students, researchers and entrepreneurs from the Complutense University will receive the Santander Scholarship

This morning, both institutions renewed the cooperation agreement they had maintained since 1997 to promote access to quality education, employment and entrepreneurship.

The UCM Santander PhD Scholarship Program will provide 75 pre-doctoral contracts for research staff.

Another year, Banco Santander, through the Universities of Santander, will support the academic institution’s summer courses.

The Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) and Banco Santander have renewed the cooperation agreement they had maintained for more than two decades, in a meeting chaired by the university’s president, Joaquin GoyachPresident of Santander Universities, Matias Rodriguez Insert. In it, they analyzed the collaborative projects they jointly promote in terms of education, research, employment and university entrepreneurship and concluded the foundations of the programs they will be promoting in 2022.

Among other initiatives, the Santander Progreso Scholarships stands out, which aims to recognize academic excellence and promote inclusion and equal opportunity among university students; Santander Erasmus scholarships, in which the university participates; Santander UCM Doctoral Aid program for research staff with 75 pre-doctoral contracts to carry out the doctoral thesis with a contribution of more than 1.6 million euros; or grant, aid, and award programs to promote entrepreneurship among young people, administered by UCM through Compluembrende.

Matias Rodriguez InsertPresident of Santander Universities, has highlighted this “Last year we celebrated 25 years of Santander supporting higher education and I am proud that this year we celebrated 25 years of commitment and collaboration with Complutense University. In 1997 we signed our first agreement and today we continue to add to our efforts to support more than 2,800 people each year through programs that It facilitates access to quality education, promotes research staff recruitment into training and encourages start-up development and expansion.”

On his part, UCM President, J.Oaquin Goyacheit was mentioned “The signing of this agreement strengthens the historical and close relationship between the two institutions, a link that is an example of public-private cooperation that benefits students thanks to the scholarship policy developed jointly.”
