More than 2,000 people apply for a food grant

Juarez city. – There were 2,170 citizens, including the elderly and people with disabilities, who went to the office of the Secretariat for Human Development and Public Welfare, located in Parque Central Poniente, to receive documents in order to benefit. With a food grant in kind, the equivalent of 1200 pesos.

Sergio Acosta, Head of the Department of Human Development and Public Welfare, thanked the citizens for their participation, who came to submit their application on Thursday, April 7 and Friday, April 8, the two days designated for receiving the documents.

It is noteworthy that during the first day, 653 elderly people were registered, in addition to 449 people with disabilities, with a total of 1,102 citizens who submitted their applications.

While on Friday, April 8, the second day of receiving documents, 717 elderly and 351 people with disabilities were received, with a total of 800 applications, who attended from 9:00 am to 3:00 am.

“The response has been very positive, we are talking about people who really need nutritional support, these grants are trying to find people who really need that support and are able to help them meet the basic needs of the community,” Acosta said.

He added that although the date on which the recipients of this food grant will be announced is unknown, their names will be mentioned on the agency’s social networks; In addition, they will contact each of the people who will receive a store in the month.

The head of human development and public interest said that people’s requests to be creditors for this grant doubled this year, and one of the factors that was revealed was the pandemic that caused many people to lose their jobs.
