MOeC: Jaime Lerner Scholarships for Latin American Students 2022-23
Following the success of the first edition of the “Jaime Lerner Exchange” in 2021, the IAAC in collaboration with Uruguayan studio Gómez Platero Arquitectura & Urbanismo launched the second edition of the Jaime Lerner Scholarship. This year the scholarship is offered to professionals from all Latin American countries to study an online master’s degree in Cities: The Next Urbanism in the academic year 2022/2023. In this way, the sponsors reinforce their commitment to support young local architects in their efforts to specialize in order to contribute effectively to the improvement of the cities of their countries.
In this second edition, the Jaime Lerner Scholarship for Latin American Students will offer 1 scholarship of 100% (covering all Master’s costs, i.e. €5,800), and for the finalists with the best portfolios, several 50% scholarships (covering half of the costs of the Master’s). That is 2,900 euros). The deadline for applications is Monday 23 May 2022 and results will be announced on Monday 6 June 2022.
IAAC is an institute that started its academic activities in 2001 in Barcelona and has become a leading center worldwide that allows learning about new opportunities offered by digital technologies and environmental principles for society. Currently, IAAC has more than 150 students from 50 countries who interact in a multidisciplinary environment to build more humane cities.
Jaime Lerner (1937-2021) was a Brazilian urban planner, engineer, and politician who influenced the development of cities around the world. He was chosen by the American magazine Planetizen as the second most influential urban planner of all time, surpassed only by Jane Jacobs, and has collaborated on several occasions with the IAAC. This scholarship continues our appreciation for this great teacher from Latin America.
