Icetex offers scholarships to study English language

The call will award a total of 150 scholarships covering 100% of the costs of tuition, materials, bilingual library, activities and cultural advice.

As part of the Belisario Betancur Scholarships, the acetex Centro Colombo Americano announced a new call to enable mainly rural women, undergraduates or recent graduates to study English. (Read: Pandemic ‘freezes’ education for millions of children in Latin America)

The authorities indicated that 150 places will be open and that the courses offered will be completely virtual. Registration will continue until December 6 and will cover 100% of tuition fees, materials, counseling, and academic resources.

The English language programs offered during this call will be completely virtual and primarily targeted at undergraduate students or recent graduates in professional, technical and technology positions. (You can read: Investing in girls who finish high school increases GDP by 10%)

There will be 110 places for active students or recent graduates over the age of 18, while there will be another 40 places for women living in rural areas who meet the same requirements. These are the requirements for obtaining the scholarship:

Student and alumni requirements

Be a Colombian citizen over the age of 18.

A university student in the fifth semester at least, or a recent graduate of no more than one year from the date of graduation.

For technicians and technicians who are in their last academic year.

They must have an academic GPA above 4.0.

A student who expresses in writing his motivation to learn English and his intention to be part of the course.

– A student who has his own WIFI connection at home and has a laptop or desktop computer, or a tablet with audio and video.

Have a previous knowledge of the language with a minimum of A2 or B1.

Rural women’s requirements

Be a woman with Colombian citizenship and reside in rural areas of Colombia (residency certificate must be presented).

– To be a university student for no less than 5 semesters, or a recent graduate for no more than one year from the date of graduation.

To be in the last year of study in technical or technological programs.

– Do you have an email.

You have an internet connection, a laptop or desktop computer, or a tablet with audio and video that allows you to study. A cell phone is an option for unexpected events, but it does not replace a computer.

Have a previous knowledge of the language with a minimum of A2 or B1.
