Continuing Getty Images’ tradition of supporting in-depth photojournalism through the Editorial Grants Program, Getty Images is offering three grants of $5,000 each to photographers and videographers who tell stories of forced displacement.

Within this topic, judges will seek out visual journalists to show how people around the world have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict, political persecution, societal violence, human rights abuses, or events that seriously disrupt public order.

These scholarships are open to both photographers and videographers, with the goal of producing a short documentary film or photo essay of no longer than 10 minutes (or a series of short essays of similar length). The scholarship must be completed within six months of it being awarded.

Grants are open to both photographers and videographers, with the goal of producing a narrative photo essay and/or a short documentary film of no more than 10 minutes in length (or a series of short vignettes of similar length).
Proposed projects may be a new or ongoing business.

Prize details

Getty Images offers three grants of $5,000 each for individual photographers/videographers.
Awarded projects must be completed within six months after being awarded.
Projects will be evaluated by an external jury of photography professionals during the summer and awarded in late summer or early fall.
For winning photo projects, a final batch of 20-25 photos will be submitted to Getty Images upon completion.
For winning video projects, a short 5-10 minute documentary video (or a series of short vignettes of similar length) will be submitted to Getty Images.
Scholarship recipients will award a Getty Images Scholarship in any publication, exhibition, or other public promotion of the award-winning work within one year of its completion.
