Authorities in Guinea-Bissau and Venezuela review bilateral relations in the field of education

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Timoto Saba Mbondi, has met with the Deputy Minister of Decent Living for Students and Knowledge Society of the Ministry of People’s Force for University Education, Pedro Carvajal, in order to review bilateral relations in the field of education.

The two sides reviewed the bilateral relations between Venezuela and Guinea-Bissau, within the framework of academic cooperation, and considered continuing academic training in Venezuela for Guinean youth in medicine and other university professions.

Academic cooperation has been a mainstay in the bilateral relationship with Africa, through the Scholarships Program for International Students, implemented by the Ministry of Popular Power for University Education through the Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho Foundation. This program started in 2006.

In the case of the African continent, students from twenty countries entered: Angola, Benin, Cape Verde, Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, Libya, Mali, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, Gambia and Ghana Sao Tome and Principe and the Seychelles.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau signed, on June 26, 2015, the Cooperation Agreement in University Education, supplementing the Cooperation Framework Agreement, on October 20, 2009, and the Agreement for the Recognition of Degrees and Degrees. or university diplomas.

Diplomatic relations between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau were established on April 6, 2006. Minister Timuto Saba Ambunde holds a PhD in Political Science (Institute of Social and Political Studies of the State University of Rio de Janeiro. ) and worked as a researcher at the National Institute for Studies and Research, and a member of the Research Analysis Laboratory International (Rio de Janeiro) and President of the University of Amílcar Cabral.
